Vale Park is the setting for the National Play Day celebrations
Children and young people will be enjoying a wide range of fun activities when Aylesbury celebrates National Play Day in Vale Park on 6 August.
Play Day is the largest annual celebration of play in the country and thousands of children are expected to take part in the festivities across the UK.
Organised locally by Aylesbury Vale District Council’s play team, and supported by the Children and Young People’s Trust for Buckinghamshire, the fun at Vale Park will include sports, games, crafts, bouncy castles, circus and drum workshops and pedal go-karts for children aged between three and 12. There will also be activities for teenagers, including a climbing wall, mobile sound studio and multi-media i-van.
Admission to the event is free of charge, though there may be a small charge for some of the activities. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The fun starts at 11am and runs until 3pm. Families are invited to bring a picnic, and also reminded to bring their sun cream and hats.
Councillor David Thompson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “We have organised this exciting day of activities to celebrate National Play Day. This initiative aims to support the rights of children to have easy access to good quality play and recreational opportunities and we are committed to taking positive steps to ensure these are provided. We have an excellent programme of activities lined up and we hope lots of people come along to join in the fun.”
