Each year the council’s accounts are audited and any person interested has the opportunity to inspect and make copies of the accounts and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them.
For the year ending 31 March 2008 these documents will be available on application to the Accountancy Section, Friars Square Offices, 4 Great Western Street, Aylesbury, Bucks from Wednesday 9 July 2008 to Tuesday 5 August 2008 inclusive, between 10am and 4pm.
Local government electors and their representatives also have:
• The opportunity to question the auditor about the accounts. The auditor will be at the Friars Square Offices for this purpose on Wednesday 13 August 2008 and after that date will be available at their Oxford office until the completion of the audit.
• The right to attend before the auditor and make objections to the accounts or any items in them. Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the council.
Mr Michael Yeats, of the Audit Commission, Unit 5, ISIS Business Centre, Horspath Road, Cowley, Oxford, OX4 2RD, is carrying out the audit and it will be conducted under the provision of Section 15 and 16 of the Audit Commission Act 1998.
