Vale Countryside Volunteers
Vale Countryside Volunteers is an organisation for people who care enough about their environment to do something about it.
What we do
Vale Countryside Volunteers exists to care for and protect the wildlife and countryside of Aylesbury Vale by carrying out practical conservation work and related activities using traditional crafts and skills.
We do all sorts of habitat restoration and creation to help endangered plants and animals such as the black poplar, barn owl and water vole.
The VCV is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Aylesbury Vale Countryside Service and BCTV. We have taken over the weekday voluntary group work of BCTV thro ughout Aylesbury Vale from Buckingham in the north to Haddenham in the south.
Meetings
Meetings are most Wednesdays at 9:30am and return by 4:30pm. Pick up at Aylesbury station and Haydon Mill can be made by arrangement. If you would like to come under your own steam just follow the grid reference but ring and check that the task is still going ahead.
Phone us to record your interest and just turn up with suitable old cloithes, strong footwear and a packed lunch. We supply the rest:
- Experienced leaders
- Training
- Transport to and from the site
- Safety gear
- Insurance
- Tea and coffee with biscuits
Who can volunteer?
Absolutely anyone! No experience required - just enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go!
What does it involve?
The pace of work is set by you. You don't have to be super-fit, just keen to join in.
What can the group offer you?
Opportunities to:
- Learn new skills
- Widen your knowledge of the environment and nature
- Meet new people
The Heritage Lottery Fund grant has helped us to buy a modern and spacious 12-seater minibus.
