The Housing Policy for owner occupiers
We recognise that even when you own your own home, difficulties arise which mean you may need our help or advice. This section of our website offers guidance and explains your situation with regard to joining our Housing Register. For more information call our Housing Needs and Advice team or see How the Housing Register Works on the link below.
In regard to our Housing Register, ‘owner-occupier’ is a general term that we use if:
- You are the owner or joint owner of a property.
- You owned, or jointly owned, a property in the past.
- You are not a joint owner, but your spouse or former spouse owns your present or former marital home.
- You live or have been living with another person as man or wife, and that person owns the family home.
- You are a shared owner of a property.
