Smokefree workplaces
The proposed smoke-free legislation for workplaces is likely to be in place by summer 2007. It includes smoking rooms provided by employers, pubs which do not serve food and private members’ clubs.
We believe the legislation will cover all workplaces which are substantially enclosed and used as a place of work by more than one person.
Now is a good time for employers to think about becoming smoke-free, before it is introduced as law next summer, to give you plenty of time for your employees to adjust.
To help you get started local authorities, with Bucks Alliance Against Smoking, have produced a booklet called Smoke Free Workplaces - A Guide For Employers.
The guide outlines 6 steps on how to go smoke-free along with giving details of where to get further information and support for your employees. It is available from Environmental Health and Licensing on 01296 585605, or you can download the booklet below.
