AVDC alerts are FREE texts sent to your mobile phone, telling you about issues that you are interested in.

Simply complete the registration form, choose which topics you'd like to receive messages about and leave the rest to us!

The texting service is free to receive texts. And we hope to extend it to include other services in the future. Topics you can subscribe for at the moment are:

Car parking

  • Information about AVDC car park maintenance closures
  • AVDC permit renewal reminders 
  • Problems with your car in an AVDC car park eg you’ve left your lights on, your car is unlocked, window is open, or other problem.

Leisure activities

  • Holiday activities
  • Playschemes
  • Sports for young people
  • Sports for adults
  • Arts for young people
  • Arts for adults.

Refuse and recycling

Changes to normal refuse and recycling collections.

How much does the service cost?

The texts we send you will be free of charge. 

Receiving texts 

Please note that we hope to develop our texting service to receive texts but this is not available at this time. We will be unable to process other texts. 

To subscribe

To subscribe for free text alerts use the Register navigation button on the left. It only takes a second to complete. We will save your details on file and start using them when the service is launched.

What will you do with my mobile phone details?

We promise not to use your mobile phone details for anything other than the texting service. We also promise to keep your mobile details secure in accordance with all the Data Protection laws.

To unsubscribe 

Simply click on the unsubscribe button on the left and fill in your mobile phone number.  We will delete your details from our records. 

What is SMS messaging? 

Short Message Service (SMS), is a text based messaging service for mobile phones. SMS messages can be sent between mobile phones (even across phone networks), and can also be sent from the World Wide Web. The number of characters in the message is usually 128-160 characters.

What if I don't have a mobile phone?
