Online licensing applications
PublicAccess for licensing is an online service which allows you to view details of all current and some historic licensing applications. It is constantly updated.
PublicAccess allows you to:
- monitor the progress of an application
- submit comments about it
- search a list of applications received each week
- view details of some historic applications
- view property details by reference to a map
Commenting on applications
If you want to submit any comments about an application you have 28 days after an application is submitted to the Licensing Authority to lodge your representation.
You can make a representation if you are considered an interested party to the vicinity. This is:
- someone who lives in the area
- a body representing people who live in the area
- businesses in the area
- a body representing businesses in the area
The licensing authority determines what vicinity is by considering whether an individual’s residence or business is likely to be directly affected by disorder and disturbance occurring or potentially occurring on those premises or immediately outside the premises.
Your representation must be made in writing and must relate to one or more of the licensing objectives:
- the prevention of crime and disorder
- the prevention of public nuisance
- public safety
- the protection of children from harm
If your comments do not relate to any of these objectives it cannot be considered. Please note that your comments will be added to the application file. We cannot treat your comments, or any part of your email or letter, including any personal details, as confidential.
You will be expected to attend a meeting of the Licensing Act Sub Committee and possibly any further appeal proceedings that follow. If you don’t attend the hearing the committee will consider your representation but may attach less weight to it as your evidence cannot be tested.
Viewing plans and other documents
Details for all licensing applications valid after March 2005 can be viewed on these pages. There may be a time lag of several days between the date an application is valid and the documents being visible on the website.
For help on how to search for licensing applications and properties, consult the help pages on the PublicAccess home page. Please note that PublicAccess may not be available for one or two hours during the night whilst system maintenance is carried out.
