Future growth and opportunities
Aylesbury Vale has been designated as a growth area by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, under the government’s Sustainable Communities Plan published in February 2003. The plan identifies the Vale as one of four areas designated for significant growth in the South East over the next 30 years.
Aylesbury Vale lies within the Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy (MKSM SRS), which covers the East of England, the South East and the East Midlands. This designation will bring in a significant amount of new investment.
Under the South East Plan, proposals include up to 21,200 new homes and 21,2000 jobs to be created up to 2026.
Projected employment growth sectors include Business and Computer Services, Hotel and Catering, Wholesale and Retail, Transport and Communications, and the Construction Industry. Other sectors identified as having growth potential include high value added transport equipment manufacture and environmental services.
Major employment sites have been designated at Aston Clinton - 24 hectares allocated for a Business and country Park - and at Berryfields - 10 hectares employment site allocated alongside a housing development.
Aylesbury Vale Advantage is the local delivery vehicle for Aylesbury Vale and is responsible for meeting central government targets for the delivery of economic and social developments which include housing, employment, infrastructure, health and community facilities and making sure these are delivered on time and to the required standards, of all the growth development components identified in the Sustainable Communities Plan.
