Economic Development services

Our Economic Development Action Plan sets out the main economic development activities that we propose for 2004 -2007. We produced the Plan in consultation with our business partner organisations across the Vale. The key aims are to develop and promote the local economy as a vibrant economic centre.

Our Economic Development Team is here to assist businesses looking for property by offering a one stop shop. We liaise with commercial agents and also source information from Bucks County Council’s vacant property database via the web.

We promote sustainable business growth through our business grants scheme. This scheme provides financial assistance to business start-ups and existing small businesses operating in Aylesbury Vale, subject to meeting certain criteria.

Other services include helping companies to access the advice and support required from a range of organisations operating in the Vale and supplying socio-economic information about the local area.

The Council adopted the ‘Promotion of Economic Development’ as one of our eight cross cutting themes in 1996. This formalised the role and importance of economic development as a Council activity and promoted a corporate approach for its implementation.

Our overall economic development aim is to maintain and develop a sustainable and diverse economy for the benefit of the business and local communities of Aylesbury Vale.

We are committed to:

  • Providing balanced employment growth
  • Ensuring Aylesbury Town Centre becomes a vibrant place for investors, visitors and businesses and most of all residents
  • Creating the right conditions to attract businesses to the Vale especially in the knowledge-based sectors, including those operating in the Information Technology, and Business and Financial Services.
  • Ensuring Aylesbury Vale continues to improve the skills base to meet present and future demands from employers
  • Providing support and encouragement to an emerging enterprise culture
  • Strengthening the business community through working in partnership with the key business support agencies such as Business Link to deliver relevant advice and training
  • Encouraging and facilitating new business start-ups and existing small business growth through our grants scheme
  • Ensuring that new and existing employment sites and business parks meet the present and future needs of businesses investing in the Vale.

Our friendly economic development team are here to assist businesses with a number of services including:

  • Property searches
  • Providing socio-economic information about the local area
  • Accessing advice and support from a range of support organisations
  • Accessing grants information including the Aylesbury Vale Business Grant Scheme and providing assistance with making an application
